Sub Campus Attock

Background Description

With the vision to develop Barani agriculture and to improve the livelihoods of the small farmers in Pothwar region, honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad persuaded for the establishment of a sub-campus at Attock. With the aid of Punjab Government and sincere efforts by honorable Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Sheikh Aftab Ahmad, the university has succeeded in establishing a sub-campus at Attock district during the year 2014. Prof. Dr. Sarwat N. Mirza, the worthy Vice Chancellor is now on the steering wheel and devoting his full efforts and attention in developing the sub-campus Attock of PMAS-AAUR. Around 1000 kanal of the land was acquired during the first phase (2014-16) by the university along with approved construction map and civil works.

Currently two degree programs are offered viz. F.Sc. (Pre-Agriculture) and B.Sc. (HONS) Agriculture. The campus has successfully passed out the three batches of F. Sc. (Pre-Agriculture). First batch of B. Sc. (HONS) agriculture specialized in Agronomy and Soil Sciencehas passed out this year (2018) which is great achievement on the part of university administration, Campus Director and faculty members who worked hard in the harsh and newly establish environment to achieve this milestone. A great appreciation has also been received by local communities' hailing from different parts of the district for providing quality higher education at their door step.

Faculty and Staff

Currently, M. Sc. (HONS) and PhD qualified (foreign & local) faculty along with dedicated support/administrative staff members are working under the supervision of Campus Director, Dr. Zuhair Hasnain. The faculty is vigorously involved in academic as well as research activities including writing of peer reviewed research papers, participation in international training and capacity building programs, development/establishment of international/external linkages and working on innovative research projects.

Campus Brief

PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi is the 2nd institution imparting higher education in agriculture and allied disciplines at all levels, in the Punjab Province. Establishment of new campuses is need of the day to cope with the enrollment demand of the region, especially at district headquarter levels. The classes are currently ongoing in Government College Attock till the construction work completion at the campus site (expected time: one year).

Current Scenario

For the establishment of building and other infrastructural development at sub campus Attock, Rs. 879.668 million has been approved by the Planning and Development Department Punjab for the year 2016 to 2019. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on 5th December 2016 and the civil work on the acquired 1000-kanal land is under progress.

The working on boundary wall on acquired land has near to completion. On the other hand, construction of three building viz. admin block, girls hostel and boys hostel is in progress and. Other infrastructural development projects are also started including construction of Mosque, Library, and Academic Block etc.
